Trust · Privacy
Safety and privacy, written in plain English.
You shouldn’t need a law degree to understand a dating site’s privacy policy. Here is exactly what we collect, what we never sell, how anonymous mode actually works, and how to walk away from anyone — in one tap, no explanation required.
Our promise
Our privacy promise
HotNoStringsDating is a private dating site built on a simple deal: you control your visibility, your messages, and your data. We control the rules that keep the community calm. We never sell your information — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to other dating networks. We are funded by member subscriptions, which is the only business model that lets us write a sentence like that one and mean it.
Behind the scenes, our engineers treat privacy as a feature, not a footnote. Messages are protected with end-to-end encryption in regions where local law permits it. Sessions are locked at the device level so a borrowed phone can’t become a leak. Reporting tools live in context — one tap inside any chat or profile — rather than buried in a help center. And a fast block is matched by an even faster report, reviewed by a human moderator on the same day in most cases.
- HotNoStringsDating safety teamPrivacy is not a paywall. The features that protect you on our site are free, default, and enabled the moment you sign up.
You control visibility
Hide your profile, lock photos to matches only, browse without leaving footprints.
Human verification
Optional photo and ID checks reviewed by a real moderator, not an algorithm.
No data selling, ever
Subscription-funded. Your information is never sold, shared or rented.
Fast block, faster report
One-tap controls in every chat and profile, reviewed by humans same day.
Pillars
Four pillars we don’t compromise on
Every feature on our anonymous dating platform reports up to one of these four pillars. Visibility means you decide who sees you and when. Verification means real people meet real people. No data selling means our incentives stay aligned with yours. And the block/report flow means the exit door is always within reach.
If a new feature can’t live inside this frame, it doesn’t ship. That includes shiny add-ons that other dating apps push hard — read receipts that can’t be turned off, location pings that broadcast by default, “boosts” that surface your photo to strangers without permission. None of those make it past our safety review.
Incognito mode
Incognito mode, explained
Incognito mode lets you hide your profile from search results entirely. You decide who sees you and when — complete invisibility with a single tap. While incognito, your profile won’t appear in the discovery feed, in nearby searches or in match suggestions for anyone you haven’t already messaged. Private photos stay locked until you grant access. People you’ve already matched with can still reach you; new strangers cannot find you at all.
This is the difference between an “incognito dating app” in marketing copy and one in practice. There is no upgrade banner, no countdown timer and no free trial that quietly ends. Incognito is a setting, not a product tier. Turn it on the night you create your account, leave it on for as long as you like, switch it off the morning you feel ready to be found. The platform behaves exactly the same either way.
Verification
Verification: how we know they’re real
Verification on HotNoStringsDating uses two lightweight checks: a live selfie matched to your primary profile photo, and an optional government ID check confirmed against your date of birth. A verified badge means a human moderator has confirmed the person on the other side of the conversation actually exists. The badge appears on your profile; the documents never do.
Trust
What verification is. A small editorial check that the face in the photos is the face behind the keyboard. Reviewed by a human moderator, usually within 24 hours.
What it is not. A background check, a credit check, a publicly visible document, or a requirement. You can use the basic features of the site without ever uploading an ID.
Verified status is reversible. If you change your mind, you can revoke verification from your privacy panel and our team deletes the source files within seven days. The badge then disappears from your profile. Some members verify on day one; others verify only when a particular conversation gets serious. Both are valid.
Data handling
How we handle your data
Six commitments, each one written so it can be checked against our actual privacy policy. If anything below ever stops being true, we’ll tell you in the app before we update the wording on this page.
-
We collect the minimum
Email, age, location precision you choose, and the profile content you write. Nothing else is required to use the basic features of the site.
-
We never sell personal information
Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to affiliate dating networks. Subscription revenue is our only source of income.
-
Messages are encrypted in transit
End-to-end encryption is enabled wherever local regulation permits. Where it doesn’t, transport-layer encryption still applies to every chat.
-
You can export everything, anytime
The Backup tool lets you download your profile, photos and messages as a single archive whenever you like. No questions, no support ticket.
-
Deletion is real deletion
When you delete your account, your profile, photos and messages are permanently removed within 30 days. We keep only what U.S. law requires us to retain for fraud and safety review.
-
You can read the long version too
Our full terms and privacy policy is written in the same plain English as this page — no clauses hidden in footnotes.
Exits
Blocking, reporting, and walking away
You never owe anyone a goodbye message. The exit door on a private dating site should be as easy to reach as the front door. Ours is.
Block
One tap, no explanation
Block removes the other person from your matches, deletes the conversation from your inbox and hides your profile from their account immediately. They aren’t notified that you blocked them — from their side, the thread simply stops. Blocks are permanent unless you reverse them yourself.
You can block from inside a chat, from a profile, or from your privacy panel. If you blocked someone in a moment of frustration, you can unblock them later. If you blocked someone because they crossed a line, please also report — it helps our moderators protect the next person.
Report
Reviewed by a human, same day
Report flags a profile, a message or a specific photo for moderator review. Our human safety team checks reports in roughly the order they arrive, with the median first response under 12 hours. Body shaming, unsolicited critique, harassment and any form of non-consensual content are removed on first review.
You don’t need to wait for confirmation. You can report and block in the same flow, then close the app. If a behavior pattern crosses into the criminal — threats, blackmail, intimate-image abuse — we’ll guide you to the right outside resources at the same time we act inside the platform.
In real life
Safe meeting tips, for whenever you’re ready
Online safety is half the work. The other half happens the day you decide to meet someone in person. These are the small, boring habits that experienced daters return to again and again — not because every first date is dangerous, but because the calm ones are calmer when a few decisions are pre-made.
Reminder
- Public first, always. Daylight, a quiet cafe or a small restaurant beats a destination on a first meeting.
- Tell one person. A friend, a sibling, anyone. Share the place, the time and a rough end window.
- Arrive separately, leave separately. Skip the door-to-door pickup until trust is built.
- Keep your phone on you. Not on the table for the whole date — just reachable.
- You can leave at any moment. “I’m going to head out” is a complete sentence. No reason required.
If you’re newer to dating — or returning after a long pause — our guide to overcoming fear of intimacy walks through the smaller steps that come before a first meet. The walk to the door is allowed to take a while.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Short, citable answers to what members ask before joining. For the wider list, see our full FAQ.
What is an anonymous dating app?
An anonymous dating app is a private dating site that lets you register and interact without exposing your real name, exact location or contact details. On HotNoStringsDating, you can use a pseudonym, hide your profile from public search and keep photos locked until you choose to share them. Identity verification stays optional and is never displayed publicly.
Do you sell my data to advertisers?
No. HotNoStringsDating is funded entirely by member subscriptions. We never sell, rent or share personal information with advertisers, data brokers or affiliate dating networks. Message content is never used to train external models.
How does incognito mode actually work?
Incognito mode hides your profile from search, discovery and nearby suggestions. People you have already matched with can still reach you; new strangers cannot find you. It is a free, always-available setting, not a paid add-on, and you can toggle it on or off at any time.
Is verification required to join?
No. Verification is optional and reviewed by a human moderator, usually within 24 hours. A verified badge confirms that the person in the photos is the person behind the keyboard, without exposing any document details on your profile.
How fast are reports reviewed?
Our human safety team aims for a first response within 12 hours and resolves most reports the same day. Body shaming, unsolicited critique, harassment and non-consensual content are removed on first review.
What happens when I delete my account?
Your profile, photos and messages are permanently removed within 30 days. We retain only the minimum records U.S. law requires us to keep for fraud and safety review, and never restore deleted accounts.
